Get your loppers ready as we focus on controlling the invasive bittersweet vine throughout the Preserve.
Bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus) is an invasive vine that girdles and smothers plants and can uproot trees due to its weight. You’ll learn why it is important to control bittersweet, how to identify it, and then we will carefully sever the vines under the guidance of invasive species management experts.
WHAT TO BRING/WEAR: wear a mask, gloves, loopers/saws, long pants/long shirt preferred if sensitive to poison ivy, water/hydration/snacks .
