REGIONAL APPROACHES TO CONSERVATION
November 19– 21, 2010
The Thayer Hotel,
West Point, New York
This year’s theme is “Regional Approaches to Conservation” in New York. The program that is being specially designed promises to be both informative and inspirational. Learn how local environmental commissions can join forces with each other and with nonprofits and government agencies to strengthen their effectiveness. Share lessons learned and meet new colleagues. Journey to Storm King Mountain – birthplace of the modern environmental movement!
The meeting will be held at the beautiful Thayer Hotel at the United States Military Academy at West Point, a national historic treasure. Enjoy the beauty, experience the pomp and pageantry of over 200 years of military history and admire the gorgeous views, as the hotel sits on a ridge overlooking the Hudson River. Also, enjoy the Thayer’s excellent cuisine and extraordinary rooms being offered at a discount conference rate. Spouses will enjoy the rich diversity of activities in the Hudson Highlands.
The Conference plenary speakers are Frances Dunwell, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, who will discuss “The Hudson River Estuary as a Regional Approach to Conservation;” Paul Gallay of RiverKeeper, who will talk about “Non-profit Advocacy Groups in Regional Partnerships”; and Edwin McGowan of the Palisades Interstate Park, who will speak on “The Ecology of the Hudson Highlands.”
