Tomorrow (9/22) is Ossining’s Car Free Day! Here are some suggestions for things you can do to participate.
It’s not too late to participate.
In partnership with 511NY Rideshare and Green Ossining, the Town and Village of Ossining are encouraging Ossining residents and community members to reduce their single occupancy driving on international Car Free Day (Wednesday, September 22nd) and instead telework, bike, walk, carpool, vanpool, drive an electric vehicle, or ride a train, bus, or subway.

Greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector account for the largest contribution to climate change, so we’re proud to be working on alternative transportation solutions to reduce our community’s collective impact and offer individuals cleaner and healthier options to consider as modes of travel.
Our annual celebration of Car Free Day is a great opportunity to reassess how you may be able to tweak your commute to reduce your personal impact of transportation-caused emissions.
And to incentivize you and make it a bit fun, a number of Ossining establishments want to recognize your commitment by rewarding you for taking a step (no pun) in the right direction.

A few other activities can be taken advantage of:
**Register for the Greater Ossining Car Free Day Community Bike Ride with Kate Marshall scheduled for 530-645p on Weds (9/22) eve.
** stop by the Rec Center and check out the 511NY Rideshare mobility kiosk that can help you with various modes of transit available for your commutes. Kiosk will be there through Friday (9/24).
** Stop by the Green Ossining booth this Saturday from 9-1p at the Ossining Farmers Market and you can still enter our Raffle to win an Ancheer E-Bike (Valued at $700). Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20.
**Also this Saturday at the Ossining Farmers Market, we’d like you to meet some new friends from bike ride-share program, www.Bewegen.com. They’ll be right next to us from 9a-1p.
