2020 Green Ossining Earth Day Festival Sadly Cancelled. Looking Forward to April 2021!

We’re saddened to share that we cannot foresee a way to make the rescheduled Festival happen under the current circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

A number of considerations went into this decision, including but not limited to the uncertainty of what may or may not be legally permissible on that date (regarding large gatherings), and our concerns for people’s health and safety.

Had we been able to hold the festival on our original date in April (or our rescheduled date of September 26th for that matter) we would have tried to impress upon attendees the boundless impacts of climate change and sea-level rise to communities such as ours, the ways in which social/environmental justice issues are truly exposed when we speak of these impacts, the solutions/opportunities available for everyone to step up and do their part, and the amazing local programs available to get folks on the right path (from an environmentally positive perspective).

So, onward to 2021! An April date is TBD, but coming soon. In the meantime, on behalf of all of us at Green Ossining who volunteer our time to help preserve, conserve and offer ways to appreciate our natural environment, I want to thank you for your support in helping us make this the largest Earth Day Festival in Westchester County.

We are fortunate to have had grand sponsorship support of these Westchester-based entities whose values deeply align with ours: Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Climate Reality Project – Westchester Chapter, Down to Earth Markets, Good Choice Kitchen, Mike Risko Music School, SBS Printing and Shipping, Sing Sing Kill Brewery, Suburban Carting, and Sustainable Westchester.  And there’d be absolutely no chance for lift-off were it not for the support of both the Village and the Town of Ossining, including Ossining Police Department, our Parks and Rec Departments, and Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps (OVAC).

Please stay connected with us by liking us on Facebook (Green Ossining), following us on Instagram handle (GreenOssining), or checking back here regularly.  We share upcoming opportunities, news, tips, and events for like-minded people. As well, if you’d like to get involved in any way, let us know.

My best,

Suzie Ross
